When asked, most people will tell you that they seriously dislike cockroaches. In fact, cockroaches are one of the most unpopular insects worldwide. Naturally, therefore, most people will shudder at the thought of dreaming about cockroaches. However, surprisingly, cockroaches in your dreams aren’t always a bad sign.

So if your dreams suddenly have cockroaches in them, take the opportunity to find out what it means when you dream of cockroaches.

Meanings When You Dream About Cockroaches

People’s first reaction when they see a cockroach is to cringe in disgust. These insects are generally seen as impure, disgusting, and spreaders of disease. However, most people don’t realize that cockroaches have fascinating qualities, too. They are opportunistic, resilient, and tough. That is why they have stood the test of time.

Therefore, cockroaches in your dreams can mean that things are going well. Here are the possible meanings behind cockroaches in your dreams:

1. You have enough resilience to make it through a challenging time

As mentioned above, a trait that is often overlooked for cockroaches is their incredible resilience. If you dream about cockroaches, your subconscious is trying to tell you that you are ready for the challenges that await. This can be very reassuring, especially if you are about to go through a very difficult or stressful time.

Getting that reassurance from your subconscious shouldn’t be ignored, as it is an indication that your emotions are healthy and balanced, too.

2. You feel guilty for not fulfilling your promises

Dreams where you are chasing a cockroach but are unable to catch it indicate a guilty conscience. Usually, this is because of failed promises. Although we all have made promises that we can’t keep, it is essential to solve the issue if the dreams persist because the failed promises subconsciously influence your emotions.

If you have broken a promise to someone close to you and feel that it weighs on you, the best thing you can do is try to resolve it by discussing it. If it is difficult for you to talk about it with the person you promised, try to talk to someone you trust about it first. Sometimes just talking about it offers a great sense of relief that is valuable for our emotions.

3. Your subconscious mind wants you to live a healthier life

The idea of having a cockroach run over your hand is a terrifying one to most people. However, if you dream that a cockroach is running across your hand, it symbolizes the need for a lifestyle change. Your body is yearning for healthier habits and better hygiene.

Having this dream regularly signifies that the time has come to make the changes needed for a healthier, more hygienic you. Living healthy is never a bad thing, anyway. If the thought of a lifestyle change fills you with dread or you don’t know where to begin, start by making small daily changes. This can include things as minor as taking a ten-minute walk during your lunch break.

If you suspect that your hygiene needs to improve, you can consider changing your shower schedule or investing in hand sanitizer. Better health also includes improved mental care, so be sure to take the time to self-assess and see how you are emotional. This can be very challenging but can offer valuable insight into how things are really going.

In order to improve your health, follow a balanced diet, try to exercise for at least thirty minutes every day, and keep yourself clean. In addition, make enough time to relax and do things that you enjoy. Finally, try to cut back on unhealthy habits such as smoking and excessive drinking.

You might be surprised how wonderful you’ll feel after making the changes brought on by your cockroach dream.

4. You desire more responsibility

If your dream actually includes you chasing a cockroach out of your home, it is a positive indication that you are ready to take on more in life. Whether you are hoping for a promotion, starting a new hobby or sport, or taking a more responsible role within the family, your subconscious mind urges you to step it up.

Although chasing a cockroach from your home might seem like a small victory, it is much more pleasant than having to kill one and then clean up the remains. That is why being able to chase it from the home symbolizes excellent things in your future. You just need to have the courage and confidence to take the first step.

Therefore, if you are dreaming about chasing cockroaches from your home regularly, think about possible ways to give yourself more challenges and responsibilities in life. Join clubs, learn a new language, volunteer for that challenging position, and give it your best.

5. You regret your actions

Dreams that include you slamming down on a cockroach and killing it, as a result, symbolize regrets about actions taken in the past. Although you have removed the threat of having a cockroach on the loose in your home, you are left with the mess in your hands. In the same way, the dream symbolizes events unfolding in undesired and unexpected ways.

If you are having this dream frequently, you will benefit from some reflection. Think back about what might have happened to make you feel unsettled and anxious. Of course, we all do things we aren’t proud of, and we can’t change that. However, by trying to resolve the situation with the other party, you might be able to give yourself some emotional breathing space.

6. You feel that someone is taking advantage of you

If you dream that cockroaches are attacking you, it is usually a sign that you feel you are being taken advantage of by someone at your work or in your private life. In this case, you must evaluate your relationships because your subconscious is trying to warn you. If you have been having friction with someone close to you, the dream could also represent a fear of being used or betrayed.

Dreams with attacking cockroaches shouldn’t be ignored, especially if they persist. Therefore, if you keep having the same dream, you should start assessing whether you genuinely trust everyone in your life. If someone comes to mind, try to discuss the situation, and if it can’t be resolved, be careful.

Most commonly, merely acknowledging the possibility of someone taking advantage of you will be enough to have the dream become less frequent. However, if it still continues, try discussing it with someone close to you or a professional. It is always best to take our inner emotions seriously.

7. You are ready to become a better person

Dreams that feature cockroaches as pets are interesting because they aren’t normally seen as perfect pets. Interestingly, if you have dreams where you have cockroaches as pets, your subconscious mind is trying to tell you that you are fully aware of your bad traits. Let’s face it, no one is perfect, and so, we all have bad qualities.

This dream is a reassurance that, although you have negative characteristics, you know what they are, and you are ready to work on them to become a better version of yourself ultimately.

If you continue to have dreams where you are the owner of cockroaches, don’t worry about it. In fact, be happy that you are in control of your emotions and you have a great understanding of who you are.

8. Someone who offers guidance stresses you out

If you are dreaming about having cockroaches stuck in your ear, it symbolizes feeling overwhelmed by the guidance of someone. Whether it is someone at your office or a parent, their guidance isn’t precisely negative. However, they are making you feel anxious. It could be that you think that they have pretty high expectations of you and fear that you might disappoint them.

If these dreams continue, it is worth your while to discuss it with someone you trust. Understandably, you might not want to talk to the person offering guidance about it, so in that case, speak to a friend or a therapist. Usually, a good heart-to-heart can do wonders for our anxiety and make us feel a lot better. In fact, keeping feelings bottled up is never desired because it can lead to depression and stress.

9. You are disappointed

If your dreams feature cockroaches that are dead, it indicates that you feel disappointed somehow. Dead cockroaches symbolize the lack of meeting a goal, so dreaming about them suggests that you have failed to achieve a goal, and your subconscious mind is struggling to accept it.

If you continue to dream about dead cockroaches, you should consider setting new goals for yourself to work towards. By setting new achievable goals, you will feel more determined and confident.

Summary

Cockroaches don’t have to mean something negative. In fact, you can learn a lot about yourself by assessing what your cockroach-featured dreams could mean. By learning from your dreams, you can create a happier and healthier life for yourself.

I actually had a dream that I had fallen and was on my back and a million roaches were running towards me, but I couldn’t move. then all of the sudden I felt a jerk and I was waking up on the floor. My husband said it was like I jumped out of the bed while I was laying down. After reading this I believe what it says about them coming after you because it wasn’t too long after that dream, I had found out that my husband was cheating on me.
